The trouble with being a lifelong Doberman lover and owner and volunteering for a Doberman rescue is that I pretty much want to bring every one of them home with me! This one is no exception - strikingly handsome, unusual in color, young, eager, and ready for finishing into the best canine companion ever.
He’s another for whom we have no background information. The one thing we could tell is that he was quite thin on arrival, but Mama Carol is making short work of getting him up to the proper weight!
With that brief introduction, let’s go right to the observations from our volunteers:
“Oh my goodness, you absolutely have to see Crew! He’s a super handsome Melanistic Dobie puppy—a rare, all-black Doberman without the usual tan markings because of a genetic boost of melanin. Crew is the sweetest, most people-loving cuddle puppy you’ll ever meet. He’s always by your side, wanting to be petted, hugged, and loved all the time, with no aggression or excessive barking. Naturally, he is a leaner. Leashing him up is a breeze, and he walks like a dream, always on a loose leash and never leading past your legs. New experiences make him a bit timid, but that’s just what you’d expect from a 1 1/2-year-old. And I have no doubt that he’ll be happy to be a bed or couch cuddle buddy, too!”
“Crew is clearly a unique looking Dobe with his one color. When the light hits his coat just right it really highlights the slight bit of brown around his face. It is beautiful! In his pictures, it is clear he is on the thinner side but this guy will be stunning once he fills out. Crew has a fantastic personality and is just a really sweet guy. Considering he is only 1½ years old, I would say his manners are really good. There’s the occasional jump up to say hello, but he is a good listener and wants to make you happy. I guess you could say he just wants to be part of the ‘crew’! (Insert rim shot here.)
“What a lover this guy is! All he wants to do is be close to you and give you kisses. He’s also pretty good at the Doberman lean, too. Besides being a real ‘people dog’, Crew has a pretty calm demeanor too. I didn’t see any of the commotion from the other dogs phasing him. All I see is a dog that is a great companion.”
