This sturdy and handsome Doberboy came to us from a home where he had been kept in a pen outside day and night since the other dog in the home had been struck by a vehicle nearly four years earlier. Here’s how his young caregiver describes things: “Ruairi is a dog that my family got because my uncle was not able to care for him. I have now decided to give him up because he lives in a kennel outside, and I feel as if that is not the best lifestyle for him, especially considering the breed he is. He had become my boy, but I realize that my family didn’t provide him with the best care. I’ll miss him, but I know he’s in great hands. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping him.”
Carol says “He’s a little skittish at first as he adapts to the changes. but he does well with people and dogs and cats. He’s very sweet, with an easygoing personality. He’s a little afraid to have a leash put over his head - probably from being in a pen and not walked regularly. He‘s appreciating being inside the warm building rather than having to endure the cold weather outside! He’s good with other dogs and ignores the cat. His name is Celtic/Gaelic for "Red King" -- I thought it suiting for St. Patrick‘s Day names despite his being red. (We don’t get many green Dobers anyway - eds.) We all love him."
A sound endorsement, indeed.
