This remarkably handsome Doberkid came to us courtesy of Rescue Angels (heaven holds a place for them) having been found as a stray.

His pictures pretty much tells it all - he’s handsome, has a beautiful blue coat, poses like a model, is well formed, has a sweet disposition, and is at once calm (when he’s lying down) and full of enthusiasm, headstrong puppy energy, and goodwill.  This one is a blank slate with all the good qualities built in, just waiting for a loving home and owner that can train him up in the way he should go, that when he is old, he will not depart from it.  (Read that some place.)

Observations from our volunteers:
“This young man was originally hesitant when I first went into the playground to meet him. He barked and stayed about 15 feet away from me. But as soon as I sat down on one of the nearby benches, he came right over and we quickly became friends. He pressed into me as I was scratching his ears and pretty soon turned and started giving me kisses! What a sweetheart. We then started playing fetch and tug-o-war with a Jolly Ball. He would always bring it right back and I’d have to pull and tug until I’d get it away from him.”

“Lamour is a looker. His coat is a luscious blue, and he has one of the most beautiful sets of natural ears I’ve ever seen. Upon our first meeting and after a few minutes of petting, he initiated play by picking up the Jolly Ball and teasing me with it. I found that he wasn’t interested in a chase, rather he wanted to play tug. I sat on a bench and he gleefully played tug as long as I was willing. He even controlled his pull enough to keep me in the game. And he was careful not to get close to my hands. This is a smart boy and a nice Dobe.”

"Lamour is a young, tall, blue male with beautiful coloring! I met him without introduction, and he gives about 30 seconds of barking; but a slow approach with a soft tone quickly wins him over. He quickly becomes a "leaner" on your legs (or lap) and works hard to get and keep you feeding him love. He is still a pup, and like a lot of pups, once comfortable he became a little mouthy but in a playful spirit. He seems to know not to bite but he can‘t resist holding onto your fingers.!! LOL! He seems to respond well to verbal correction, so he is clearly trying to learn. He loves the Jolly Ball as well, so I think he can entertain himself with toys when he absolutely can‘t convince you to play with him. He‘s a cool pup and ready for a good home!"

And Carol adds this delightful bit, besides:
"I need to tell you this cute, quirky thing he did twice for me today.  I decided to let him run back to the building, and he wanted to play tug-o-war with the Jolly Ball rope. I gave up and took the other end and ‘walked‘ him back as though he were on a leash. He held one end in his mouth and I used the other as a lead. Too cute!"

Some loving, consistent guidance is going to result in a most amazing companion for many years to come.

All I can say is, I want to take him home with me!  If you have the same reaction, follow the usual sequence:  apply, acceptance, appointment, arrive, acquaint, away.  I wouldn’t be slow, if I were you.
