Rowena was adopted before the profile was written, but here’s the skinny:
She came to us by way of an owner surrender, but there’s more to that story. Here’s how he describes it:
“I rescued her from a fellow who had lost interest in her. It seemed to me that his girlfriend seemed more concerned with where she went than he did. I was really worried about her being turned into a puppy mill, because she wasn’t spayed. We tried seeing if she could be a good fit for our family lifestyle, but she needs more interaction than we can give her. She needs mental stimulation and would do great with someone who is really into training, tricks, or services; or who wants a constant companion. We‘ve been using the Halo collar because we don‘t have a fence, but our neighbor has been threatening us. He doesn‘t trust the collar, and he has threatened to harm her because he‘s worried about his little dogs; it seems like everything is stacked against us. She is VERY smart and has a lot of potential. She would also do well with another dog to play with.”
Observations from our volunteers:
“What a classic beauty with an amazing personality! When I spent time with her, she would lean into me, dart off to see what was making noise, and then come back to check in with me. She responded to me calling her, and once when I whistled to her she came trotting back to me. It would be hard for anyone to resist her charms! She won me over just being herself.”
“Rowena is a pleaser supreme! As many know, Dobermans often have a pleaser personality, but Rowena really seems to have an extra measure of wanting to make her human happy. She is totally in tune with your emotions and reacts accordingly to your every move. She is super cute, and despite some good pics on the website, I don‘t think they do justice to her true beauty. She has lots of good energy and will put a smile on your face.”
