This goofy young Dobergirl came to us from a family that had found her as a stray and wanted to keep her. Unfortunately, their two resident dogs didn’t accept her into their pack, and she was having to spend too much time in a crate. Thankfully, they saw that she made it to DRT, and, as with each of the Dobers that find their way here, we’re now assessing and working with her as we prepare her for a matched, forever home.
Having been a stray and obviously not having received preventative treatment, she has heartworm - that treacherous, invasive, life-sucking parasite that will eventually kill a dog if not eradicated. Heart worm treatment is very costly and risky, but a dog will eventually die without it, so if you’re moved to donate toward treatment for her, we will greatly appreciate it, and you will have had a part in saving her life, literally.
UPDATE - Good news! Her heart worm treatment is completed, and she is ready to go to her new home. A heartfelt (literally!) thank you to everyone for the generous donations for veterinary costs to complete her heart worm treatment and thereby to have saved her life.”
Observations from our volunteers: “She’s a petite girl with lots of energy who loves to be in the spotlight of attention. We‘re working on walking on a leash. She‘s such a happy playful girl; she definitely has personality plus and makes you smile.”
“Peyraguay is a friendly Dobe that is curious about everything going on around her. She has the Dobe lean down pat too. Out on the patio, she divided her time with me sniffing around and looking at all things that grabbed her attention.”
Here’s your chance to give a deserving dog a life and a loving home. If you think yours may be a match, follow the sequence: application, acceptance, appointment, arrival, acquaintance, away. |
