CRYPTO

 

   Dogs come to us for various reasons: divorce, illness, death, moves, etc.  Sadly, from time to time we receive dogs that have been abused.  The abuse ranges from passive - neglect, being malnourished, etc., to active - physical abuse of differing types and degrees.

    Crypto is a victim of egregious neglect, under feeding to the point of emaciation, and physical abuse.  I won’t go into details, but suffice it to say it has taken me several days to get to where I could write this profile, his former treatment having been so outrageous.  Astonishingly, he responded very quickly to gentle human interaction and is doing remarkably well.  His resiliency and ready adaptation to loving care is a testament to his spirit, and he shows every sign of being a loving and loyal (and grateful) companion.  He was only 56 lbs. when he arrived at DRT, and now he about 85 lbs. - happy, healthy, and vibrant!
     
    Observations from Carol:
        “This is a forgiving soul who has found his safe place here at Elijah‘s House. He rode well in the car and seemed to enjoy looking out the window. We let him out in one of the exercise fields, and he ran and ran, seeming to enjoy the previously unknown freedom to do so. When I went back to get him, he did bark at me, but once I walked in and sat down on the bench, he came over and put his head in my lap, wanting to be petted. He‘s going to be fine. He is very trusting of humans considering what he has been through in his short life.”

And from one our volunteers:
    “After some time at Elijah’s house, he has filled out nicely.  He is a sweet dog who loves to play with the Jolly Ball.”

    “Crypto has really become ‘my guy’.  He gets so excited to see me when I approach his gate that he will jump continuously like a pogo stick until I go in to see him. The good news is that he doesn‘t jump on you! He absolutely loves attention, and when you go in to see him, it is as if the rest of his world no longer exists. You have his full and undivided attention. When I‘m walking through his outdoor area with him, it is as if he is on a leash because he stays right there by my side. I can literally move my left hand while I‘m walking and he will try and nuzzle my hand.  He absolutely wants to be your best friend!”

Carol again:
    “He likes to be close to his humans.  He walks right beside you, touching closely, as though to not miss a moment of contact.”

    If ever a dog deserved a loving, trustworthy, forever home, it’s this one.  If your heart is moved and you can provide a true family and home for him where peace and good will be his lot going forward, submit your app., make an appointment, and come meet him.  Surely you’ll take him home if you do, and what a deeply blessed thing that will be.
