This lovely Dobergirl came to us as a result of a divorce. Her human dad turned her in because, having to move, he couldn’t find a place that would allow Dobers. Here’s how he describes things: “I‘m losing my house due to divorce. I am probably going to have to move into an apartment, and Doberman‘s are sadly on the restricted breed list in every apartment in the state. I‘ve also not been in good health lately. With all of the chaos in my life, I think Nova would be better off with someone who can care for her better than I can right now. I love her so much, I‘m actually crying while writing this; it really hurts me, and I really do wish there was something that I could do besides this, but I‘ve exercised all other options. I just want her to go to a good home with someone that will love her and care for her like she deserves to be cared for.”
Carol says the poor fellow “cried a river when he turned her over to me.” This is why we exist. We can’t fix all the sadness in families, but we sure can help with starting a new, happy life for the dogs that come to us.
She loves belly rubs, and she loves when you talk to her and say her name over and over - she wiggles her butt and gets all excited for the attention. She walks nicely on leash and is well mannered. She has a thick, heavy coat and a sweet personality. We’ve also learned that she likes to bury her toys!
She knows the following commands: “Sit,” “Treat,” “Lay down,” “Go to bed,” and “Give me your paw.” She‘s very active, loves running around in a yard, and loves chasing after toys.
Observations from our volunteers: “What a great, velcro Dobergirl! She loves one-on-one attention and walks nicely on a leash. She is quiet unless she wants a little attention, and then it is only a low whine. She comes when called, knows how to sit and give a paw (although we don‘t encourage that trick). She was shy and a little reserved at first, but once she knows you, her sweet personality blossoms and shined through.”
"Nyah is at first a bit shy and hesitant to meet new people but warmed up to me rather quickly when we met in the Corral. She is a very gentle Dobe and likes to be close to you especially if you’re rubbing her head and ears. A few times I stopped to see what happened, and true to typical Dobe behavior, her nose lifted my hand to get things going again! I’ll mention that she has rather petite paws compared to many larger Dobes, but they compliment the ladylike features and personality Nyah has."
This one seems like a winner all the way around. If you think she‘s a match for your family, follow the sequence: apply, acceptance, appointment, arrive, acquaint, away. Blessings all around, if you do. |
