This strikingly attractive and well-formed Dobergirl came to us after her male human died, and her female human had to move in with a sister. The triple loss of spouse, beloved pet, and home are certainly a sadness for the woman, and our hearts go out to her in her time of loss and adaptation.
This lovely Dober seems to be quietly taking it in stride, with an overall calmness despite the unexpected changes. She’s polite, gentle, and interactive - curious, yet not troubled or anxious. She takes comfort from human contact, all the same. It’s a common trait in our beloved breed, especially at times of uncertainty.
Interestingly, she‘s somewhat of an "alpha" female when it comes to other dogs. We explained this to an adopter before he was allowed to take her home, cautioning him to keep her away from canine contact. But a couple weeks in, he tried to have her “make friends” with another dog on leash - disaster. We’re just glad no one was hurt in the fracas. So, she’s back with us as she awaits a new home where she will not be interacting with other dogs.
Observations from our volunteers: “Liza has a profile and muzzle which is a little blunter and more purposeful. Additionally, she has bright red rust markings to complement her deep black coat. She likes being petted and being close, too. After she’d done a bit of exploring in the corral, she came back to me when I called to her.”
"She sure is a beauty."
Everything about this sweet Dobergirl is positive. All she needs now is a new, forever home. If you think yours may be a match, follow the sequence: apply, acceptance, appointment, arrive, acquaint, away. Blessings all around if you do. |
