I had to laugh. As I was first viewing Revenue’s pictures on the website, it just washed over me (for the millionth time) how much I love this breed. You’d think I might get tired of them after more than half a century, but no - still crazy for them after all these years. Alright, focus.
These are sweet litter mates that are to be placed as a bonded pair. They are small enough in size that they could be thought of to “fit in as though there were one big Dobe” according to Carol! Both have had basic obedience training. Both love to play catch with balls and rope toys.
His former mom says he’s “a total lap dog that likes to lie on the couch and chew his toys." And regarding Tariff, she says “She’s a thoroughly lovable dog and an awesome companion. She is small framed and was the runt of her litter. She is very curious and also very smart.”
These lovely Dobers have come to us because the adult daughter and new baby have moved back in to the home due to unfortunate circumstances, and the space requirements and additional expense that go with two more humans in the home have necessitated the unhappy decision to surrender the dogs.
Observations from our volunteers:
“Simply put, I love Revenue; he’s a very sweet boy! He lets his sister be the brave one upon introductions, but what a transition I saw in him from seeing him Saturday to seeing him again on Sunday. I would characterize him on Saturday as "trusting but skeptical," and then on Sunday he became my shadow, following me around wherever I went. Both dogs are well mannered and low drama; they just want a new family to love and to love them, as before.”
"Petite and sweet....that is Tariff. Maybe she should have been named "Refund" because she will give back much more than she will tax you! She is quiet (so far) and friendly. She and her brother both give soft kisses, and that largely sums up her demeanor. Not the "in your face" dog that demands attention. Yes, Tariff definitely wants your love and attention, but she is more patient to receive it and is softer with her reciprocation than most. She and her brother are very similar and make a wonderful bonded pair."
“These two Dobes are as alike as any two dogs you‘ll ever see. Both are a bit hesitant at first but open up pretty quickly. They totally responded to me when playing with the Jolly Ball. They both wanted to include me in their tug of war. They love playtime!”
And Carol adds: “What a great pair. These two are independent of each other and have different personalities, but get along and play together. They walk well together and are usually not far from each other. They keep each other company but want their individual attention.”
When it comes to Dobermans (or ice cream), I’ve always thought that if one is good, two are better. Here’s your opportunity to take home a matched pair of well-adjusted Dober siblings. While it always takes some time, the sequence remains the same: apply, acceptance, appointment, arrive, acquaint, away. Here’s hoping you‘re successful in making them part of your family.
