This handsome, sturdy fellow came to us with the following explanation for his surrender: “My husband and I work a lot. We aren’t able to care for him or give him the attention that he needs.” Along with this, although he was initially a house dog and of course clean inside, at some point he was relegated to being an outside dog in a gravel yard with and only a small, plastic, transport crate for shelter. So much for that. His new home will be one where he gets the care and attention he so richly deserves.
Carol says, “This is a nice Doberman. He seems to be very "Velcro" and only wants to be near someone. He also has that Doberman lean down pat! He was good for his vet exam, and the techs say he is sweet and easy to handle.”
From his former mom we learned that he’s good on a leash, and that he will sit, lie down, and give paw on command. He loves playing fetch, and his favorite toys are his orange stuffy and balls.
Observations from our volunteers:
“Three things impressed me almost immediately about this boy: 1) What a handsome face he has! 2) What BIG feet he has, and 3) What a total love bug he is! I guess the last thing was the most important one. As soon as we went into the corral he never left my side; in fact, his head was between my legs while I was fussing over him and rubbing his ears. If I stopped, he let me know right away that he wanted more. Whether it was with a gentle kiss or a flip of my arm with his muzzle, he got his point across. You couldn’t ask for anything more!”
“Mahuey has all the "best friend" characteristics you could ask for. His unbalanced ears, combined with his personality, give him that "big goofball" label. He is just as friendly as can be and would absolutely sell his soul for extra attention. He will stay with you as long you are giving him attention, but the moment you stop he goes to the next person. If that one stops, he will come back to the original person. He isn‘t at all annoying about it; he doesn‘t really pester you for attention. He’s just a great companion to hang out with, either at home or wherever you may be. He’s definitely one of my favorites!”
This is an outstanding fellow, and I find myself wanting to take him off the page and keep him for myself! You know the drill: apply, approval, appointment, visit, go home. I wouldn’t delay, if I were you.
