This attractive, gentle, young-adult Dobergirl came to us from an unusual situation. I’ll let her former owner explain: “I have a beautiful Doberman. She is the funniest, gentlest, and most loving dog I’ve known, and she’s naturally very smart. I had to move for my work, so I placed her temporarily with a woman who fostered her and was willing to keep her permanently, if I couldn’t find a house to buy. Now, that person also is moving and can’t take her. I am desperate to find a good home for her. I would love to have her back permanently, but I cannot until I’m in my own home again, and that’s not happening any time soon.”
So this dear girl is “out on the street’ so to speak, until she finds a home that can keep her forever. Thankfully, “out on the street” in this case simply means she has come to Elijah’s House for the time being as she awaits a proper, permanent home.
In her short time with us so far, we see that she‘s a bit tentative when meeting a new person. We’ll work with her on that, of course. She did very well with her vet visit, which is a positive thing.
From her former owner we learned that she knows to sit, lie down, and stay on command. She also does a “fist bump” and plays, “Guess which hand.” She is a “gentle dog, but a bit rambunctious in her play.
Observations from our volunteers:
“This young girl appeared to be a bit shy when I went into the corral to visit with her. She eventually came close enough for me to rub her head as I sat on one of the benches, but would back away if I went to stand up. As soon as I sat down again, I could coax her to come over again, but at an arm’s length just to be safe. I suspect as soon as she becomes more comfortable with her new surroundings, she’ll be more relaxed and less wary.”
“Olmeca is another sensitive soul at DRT. She is a little shy upon introduction, but I‘m certain she will grow in confidence as she acclimates to her new surroundings. She definitely wants attention and you can almost see her struggling between listening to her mind to be cautious and listening to her heart to seek attention. She is a very pretty Dobergirl and one that will no doubt be the very best of companions.”
This dear Dobergirl has been back and forth between homes and wants nothing more than to be in a loving, forever home. If you think yours may be the one, you know the routine: apply, approval, appointment, visit, take home. Now get started. :-) |
