This strikingly beautiful young Dobergirl checks every box for me. What an excellent example of Dober flesh she is! Frustratingly, she came from a home where she had already been bred at a year old and had a litter of pups.
Her former owners had two small children, the husband traveled much of the time for work, they had no fenced yard, and the mom could not adequately care for the dog and the kids, both. (Ought not those all have been considerations before bringing a puppy into the mix?) Now she’s safely at Elijah‘s House, thanks to rescue angels who helped her find the way here. The vet said she was good for her examination. She was a little shy and unsure at first, but has warmed up quickly and has made best friends with Archee and Cardinal at Elijah‘s House. The threesome of youngsters can be seen playing together out in the exercise fields.
This is a comment from the rescue person who kept her for a few nights before her arrival at DRT: “This is a sweet girl. She has good recall, sits, and shakes your hand when you ask her to. She will sit for her leash to be put on, although she does pull a bit when being walked. She is protective and has a high prey drive. She is house trained. I leave the crate door open she goes in on her own and lies down. She is going to make someone a very nice dog with a little work.”
Observations from our volunteers:
“Herradura is a beautiful Dobergirl that will be a total knockout when she gains a few pounds. She seems to have a spirit of adventure, as she is just as interested in any activity happening around her as she is with getting some attention. She is very sweet and is keen to interact with possible canine playmates moving around DRT. She definitely still has some puppy in her, but that should be expected since she’s still months shy of turning two. Despite her youthful energy, she has been very manageable when I have been around her and shown pretty good manners. Great dog!”
"This young girl was eager to give me a few kisses when we spent time in the corral today! She really is a beautiful girl and was very friendly and attentive. I took her for a walk up the driveway, and she did quite well on the leash. She also didn’t get very excited when Tubbs and Crockett chased after us on the other side of the fence from her. She was curious, but didn’t get excited."
This Dobergirl shows every promise of maturing into the finest kind of companion a person could want. If you think your home may be a match, and if you’re willing to put in the time to advance her training and help her realize her natural potential, make an appointment to meet her after your application is approved. Once you’ve met her, you won’t want to go home without her.
