What a beauty this precious Dobergirl is. Just a pup, really, but able to be calm and relaxed beyond her age.
Her former owner had her for only three months and explains her surrender this way: “I was recently advised that the rules have changed and my landlord will only allow small animals (less than 40 lbs). In order to renew my lease, I must get rid of her. She has a great demeanor. She loves to cuddle and snuggle, and she sleeps with me in the bed. She loves to play outside too, so she gets outside time during the day and stays inside rest of time plus in the evenings. Her leash manners are very good, but she’s still learning commands.”
He further explained that when he bought her, the breeder pointed out that the pup was not yet well socialized due to the absence of human contact other than with himself and his daughter. Carol says that at this stage, "She‘s initially hesitant, but she does warm up with treats and sweet talk. The former owner did say she loved to sleep in bed with him. She simply needs more exposure to humans that are new to her. With time, patience and a loving hand, she’ll come right along. The progress is evident already.”
Observations from our volunteers: “Cardinal has stunning brown coloring that just shines. She’s an absolutely beautiful Dobergirl. She was a little shy when I first met her, but it was funny how fast she transformed into my buddy. She initially circled me as I sat and waited for her to get comfortable, not quite ready to trust me enough to come over. I got her to sit, and slowly approached. Then I gave her attention and some treats for a few minutes, and I could see the anxiety lift from her. I went to see another Dobe and returned 10 minutes later. At this point, she was waiting for me at the gate with excitement and couldn‘t wait for me to come in and see her. Cardinal is still and young and maturing, but she has all the right qualities and is blossoming quickly.”
This is a lovely Doberpup who is just needing a true, stable, forever home in order to come into her full Dober self. Make an appointment to meet her after your application is approved. Your home just may be the one.
