This stunningly attractive Dobergirl came to us from a loving home, where her human sadly had become terminally ill and of course could no longer keep her. Thankfully, we were able to get her the same day she had been left at a shelter.
We learned that as the owner’s illness progressed, a friend would take her during times of difficulty, and while the owner is unable to share comments, the friend has provided us with a wealth of information regarding this lovely dog.
Here’s what the friend shared with us: “Her owner had some health issues, so when he would go for treatment, she would come stay with me. She adjusted very well the first time we ever met. She tried to stay awake, but she felt comfortable and slowly succumbed to her exhaustion and fell asleep on my arm. She crates extremely well.
I live in an apartment where there are frequent noises. She barked once, ever, and it was a single woof as I was sitting next to her. She has never shown any bit of resource guarding at all, whether food, treats, or toys. When she wants to be petted, she will literally smack you with her big mitten paws and nudge with her nose! She does like to jump up but does so very gently.
She is a big snuggler and would no doubt be delighted to snuggle in bed! She hasn’t shown a moment of negativity. Her leash skills are quite impressive; she’ll pull a bit but mostly because she is just excited. She never had an accident in my apartment and never took anything that didn’t belong to her. She LOVES squeaky toys and doesn’t shred them, and she knows to sit and come. She’s a couch potato at heart, but when she plays, she’s very gentle.”
Observations from our volunteers: “You can tell this striking girl needs a bit of time to adjust to her new reality. I took her for a short walk and sat with her in ZiZi’s Zone this afternoon, and I could tell she was holding back a bit and wasn’t entirely certain. She let me rub her ears as I sat on a bench, but I had the feeling she didn’t want me getting too close. I’d say I look forward to see how she relaxes during this next week, but my guess is that she’ll be adopted before the week is out. Girls this pretty don’t usually stay around long!”
From all indications, you’d have to look far and wide to find as beautiful a Dobergirl as this, both physically and personality wise. If you’re interested, I wouldn’t hesitate a moment; she won‘t be here long. You know the drill, apply, approval, appointment, approach, abscond, alleluia! |
