We don’t have a lot of history on this handsome fellow other than to share a cryptic comment from his turn-in form: “Life has changed a lot, and I have to leave the city pretty often. It‘s better for him to live in a family, not (as he has been) with a single person.”
We do know that he lived in an apartment in a city; and he knows to sit, go to crate, “hands,” and circle, on command.
Since he’s been with us, we’ve learned that he loves to play with toys and doesn’t tear them up (somewhat unusual and a good thing!); he also chases after the thrown Jolly Ball and actually brings it back!
Observations from our volunteers:
“When I first met Remy today, he seemed friendly but a bit shy at the same time. Right after all the dogs were put outside, I took him for a walk up the driveway, and his fun began! He was bouncing like his legs were springs, and you could just tell how excited he was to be outside. Then it hit me that Carol said he lived in a high-rise apartment and spent a lot of time in a crate. He was experiencing the freedom every dog deserves, and it showed! On top of this, he’s a real sweetheart and shared several brief kisses with me.”
“Remy Martin is a volunteer favorite. He just has a mellow vibe about him that makes him easy to like. When you combine that temperament with his good looks, it makes for a very desirable Dobe. He has pretty good manners, although he will find a way to make sure you are aware of his presence if he is not getting attention. If you are providing him with some love, he is there for it! For a two-year-old, Remy just has a bit of an old soul. He will definitely steal your heart if you let him!”
This seems to be a handsome, lovely young Dober who just needs a home where he can run and play and interact with his human to his heart’s content - something he apparently has been missing to this point. (Thank you to his former owner for realizing this and making that always-difficult decision to surrender him for placement ina home that’s a better match.)
