Here’s another picture-perfect Dober, albeit underweight at the moment. (Carol is already working on that!) He came from a home where he’d lived since a pup. Unfortunately, there was a divorce, his mom is gone, and his dad is moving home to his folks outside the US and cannot take the dog. His dad is brokenhearted at having to give him up but has no options at this time. He reports that the dog knows to sit, stay, shake, wait, go inside, and go to bed on command, and that he is a very active dog.
From everything we can see and tell, he’s a well-adjusted, eager-to-be-involved fellow with a gentle, sweet disposition who just wants to enjoy life with his human and whatever is going on
Observations from our volunteers:
“Hendricks is a little shy when he first meets, but he warms up pretty quickly. I spent most of my time with him in his inside run today (due to rain), and we played tug of war with his rope toy. He never growled while we were playing, and he also never turned loose of his end of the rope! When the rain stopped, we went to the patio for a while. He would periodically come back to me after sniffing around the perimeter of the patio and either lean against me (typical Dobe lean) or give me a few gentle kisses. In my time with him, it is apparent he is a very loving and easygoing fellow.”
"Hendricks is just a pretty cool Dobe. He is friendly and gets very excited to see you. Despite his excitement, he maintained good manners and didn‘t jump up when I came in to say hello. He is definitely a looker, and when he gains 10 or 15 pounds, his good looks may stop traffic. I approached him alone, so upon introducing myself he was excited but a little reserved, as he just wanted to be sure. I spent time about 10 minutes talking positively without forcing myself on him and then gave him some time. When I came back to see him 30 minutes later (also by myself), we were already best friends. Hendricks just gets it! He is a great Dobe with a great personality!
All these profiles end the same way: apply, get approved, make appointment, come meet and take home. There you have it (but don’t be slow)! |
