This slender, perfectly formed Doberpup with the beautiful ears came to us from a loving home where her puppy enthusiasm was too much for one special-needs child and who would get hyper in playing with the other child.
Here’s how her former owner describes it: “We struggle keeping her out of kennel because she overwhelms our six-year-old with autism, and he gets very upset. Our four-year-old is the opposite and is very hyper and works her up. It‘s hard to keep everything picked up, and she wants to grab a kid’s toy and be chased for it. She‘s calm and sweet when the kids aren‘t causing an overstimulating environment. The kids and the dog together are not a good match. This has been a very hard decision for us to make. Our son with autism needs his home environment to be calm and safe and he is not comfortable with her as he was with our previous Dober. He always asks to put her up when she‘s out. So it‘s not fair to the dog and not fair to our son. It‘s become too stressful for our family and we are sad that it‘s come to this. We very much loved our previous Doberman of 13 years.”
You can see how that would be a problem - nothing wrong with the dog, just not the situation for anyone’s best advantage.
She’s still a puppy and will be for some time, so there’s plenty of energy and little settled behavior at this point. She loves synthetic hard bones to chew and tough chew toys, ans she loves to play fetch. Truth is, she’s just a terrific puppy who, with the proper guidance and training, will mature into an outstanding companion for many years to come.
Carol says she‘s a "really sweet 8-month-old - beautiful ear crop, too. She‘s a little tentative at first, but should you start tossing her rubber balls, she‘s your best friend for life. And she loves to sleep in the bed with her humans!"
Observations from our volunteers: “Pacos is as active as she is cute, and she is super cute! She loves to play with balls. She has a ton of energy and will need some type of outlet to exhaust herself. She is a little shy at first, as her instinct is to keep her distance until she gets comfortable. Pacos is a fun Dobergirl if you have the energy to keep up with her! She will definitely put a smile on your face as you watch her play. I look forward to getting to know her better because she is the type where her personality will continue to shine brighter as she builds trust.”
“What a striking beauty! I envy the lucky folks who adopt this girl. While I sat with her in the corral, she alternately was exploring and coming over to share some gently kisses. She is a real sweetheart.”
If you have the energy and patience for an outstanding puppy, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come prepared to be bowled over by her. You will no doubt be smitten, too.
