This pretty little Dobergirl was probably 20 pounds or more underweight when she arrived at Elijah’s House, but Mama Carol is slowly and steadily plying her with plenty of nourishing food, end the volunteers are seeing that she gets plenty of exercise, so she’s already starting to put on the needed weight and muscle mass for optimum health.
She came to us from a home where her human’s circumstances had changed dramatically. Here’s how her former mom described it: “When I adopted her as a pup I was married, and things were much different. Due to unforeseen circumstances I am now a single mom, working full time and tending to a 3 year old. As a result, she just isn’t getting the time, attention, or love that she deserves.”
Perhaps more than one of our readers can relate to such circumstances. Her former mom describes her as being very active, always super sweet around other dogs, and one who prefers softer toys rather than bones. She also knows to sit and lie down on command. She has an especially sweet personality, but in her desire to be with humans, she doesn’t see a fence as an insurmountable obstacle to achieving that goal.
Here’s how our volunteers describer her: “Courvoisier is a petite girl who is just an absolute sweetheart. She was easygoing at introduction, neither getting too amped up nor acting shy and reserved. She loves a good walk, but her excitement does lead to some pulling on the leash. She seems quite confident and adaptable. When she gets some weight on her, she will be an absolute beauty queen!”
“This past Saturday I spent some time with her as she ran and explored in the exercise fields. After she ran a bit, she came over and jumped up on a bench, so I sat down with her. She is very loving, just wanting scratches, and if I stopped, she kept looking at me expectantly for more! She listened well and was attentive when I was talking to her. But most of all she wanted love and scratches!”
"It amazes me what a sweet, calm, and perfectly normal dog Courvoisier is after having come from an environment that was obviously less than ideal. While I sat with her in the corral this weekend, she was affectionate and happy to see what was going on around her. Once she gets another 20 or so pounds on her athletic frame she will be a real stunner!
This seems to be an excellent young Dober without complications, who simply needs a loving home where she will be well cared for and given plenty of love and cuddles. If you think your home may be a match, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come spend a bit of time getting acquainted. You’ll be glad you did, especially if you decide to take her home with you!
