This beautiful, petite Doberteen came to us from a shelter - no word on how she came to be with them. They were of course full, so they placed her with a foster family until Rescue Angels could deliver her to us. It seems as though she had been living outside before coming to them, and she had been somewhat anxious and nervous (no surprises), but is settling down nicely here at Elijah‘s House.
The rescue coordinator from the shelter told us that “She knows almost all her basic commands and walks beautifully on a leash. She has attended training classes here and is non-reactive to other dogs. We took her to a small event last weekend, and she loved everyone that approached her respectfully- we had a few children that ran up behind her, but she only barked a warning at them, no air snapping or growling.”
From what we can see so far, this is a lovely young Dober, perhaps lacking exposure and interaction to a small degree, but with all the promise of maturing into an excellent adult companion in home where she is loved and valued.
Volunteer observations: “What an impressive profile! Teeling is so athletic looking and has such striking coloration. Her secret appeal though is the cowlick that runs down the center of her snout! As I sat with her in the corral this weekend, she would hop up on one of the concrete benches (with absolutely no effort) and start sniffing my face and neck. After a quick exchange of affection, she’d hop off and start exploring and checking out what the other Dobes were doing.”
“Teeling is just a super cute female Dobe. She has a little attitude that just makes me laugh. On Saturday we put her in a field, and she initially was very vocal towards any neighboring Dobes. So we took her out and introduced her to Tishky, one of the males here at Elijah‘s House, and she sniffed him for a brief second and was content. She ignored him as if they had been brother and sister for years. Based on her original behavior, I thought she would certainly fail our cat test, but I was wrong again. My conclusion is that she just wants attention and she will find a way to get it. Once you spend a bit of time interacting with her, you can see what a cute and playful girl she is. Teeling is a Dobe that I like a LOT!”
This little Dober seems to be just a bundle of youth, innocence, and eagerness to experience all the good life has to offer. If you think your home may be a match and are able to devote the time to completing her training, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come meet and interact with her. She’s a prize, just waiting for the right family! |
