This beautiful senior Dober is a gentle giant of a girl. Significantly overweight at the moment, she’s a true sweetie all the same. Animal control says “She‘s a dream, but she definitely needs a fitness plan!”
Her humans had contacted us regarding surrendering her, saying that she played too rough with their 8-year-old grandson and that they were moving. We told them we’d take her as soon as a space opened up, and when there was an opening a couple of weeks later, we reached out to them several times with no response until the end of the second day, when we learned they had animal control pick her up that morning! It’s important for those looking to surrender a dog to remember that with shelters and rescues so full, it takes time to arrange for taking a dog in.
Thankfully, animal control reached out to us, and now she’s safely with us as she awaits a new, loving home. All the same, during the first days here she whined and cried for her humans. She had no idea what had just happened to her. She’s adapting though, and she‘ll make a wonderful companion for the family that connects with her and takes her home. She’s easily adaptable to going to a new home -- good with cats and with other dogs, easy to handle, and no chewing or bad habits. We just long for someone to open their heart to this tenderhearted, lonesome senior Dobergirl.
Volunteer observations: “This is the Dobe that someone looking for a calm and collected companion would want. While we hung out in the corral, she would alternate between leaning into my legs (Dobe trait called ‘a Doberman lean‘) and looking around at all the activity surrounding us. She never barked, and she took everything in stride. She could stand to lose a few pounds, but she’s not fat, just robust. She’s a sweetheart too!”
By all accounts, this is a lovely, gentle, senior Dober who will make a superb companion in the home of someone who recognizes her value. If you think your home may be a match, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come see for yourself what a doll she is. You won’t be disappointed.
