What a lovely, open face this young fellow has. He and his brother Hutch are two of four litter mates whose mom is Highland (separate profile). All of them were abandoned by their owner at his mother’s place. (God bless longsuffering parents, and a pox on irresponsible adult children.) Now, thankfully, pups and mom alike have come under our care as they await new, proper homes.
Carols says “They‘ve been living outside with a dog house for cover, and they are loving the big bed and blankets inside at Elijah’s House! They‘re filled with parasites and very thin. They weren’t very socialized, but they are opening up nicely with the help of food treats.” Now, with proper medical care, plenty of good food, and loving time and attention, they’re coming along fabulously.
These handsome fellows haven’t had much of a life to this point, but they’re young and adaptable, and there’s no doubt they’re going to make wonderful companions for whoever decides to take either or both to be part of their family. The other two other siblings will be with us shortly and available for adoption, as well. All are available separately or mix and match, so to speak.
Volunteer comments:
“Neither brother would come close to me when I first went to meet them, until I sat on one of the benches in the driveway field. They didn’t look scared, just a bit wary. Sitting down must have made me less intimidating. It was Starsky who finally came up to me just close enough to make contact. He let me rub his ear and scratch the side of his muzzle. He didn’t stay long, then went back to his brother. He came back when I called for him, but it was only for a quick visit. I moved back into the playground and sat down on a bench, and both came up to me after a minute. Hutch was more at ease this time, and after a while he allowed me to hold his head with both hands and give him a kiss on the head. They’re both beautiful and curious about their new surroundings. You can tell they just haven’t had the opportunity to interact with people, but that will change quickly at DRT. They’re like flowers starting to bloom as they steadily become more socialized.”
If you’d like to make one or more part of your family, make an appointment to meet them once your application is approved, and come check them out. You can’t go wrong with any of them, and each will be thrilled to be enjoying the comforts of a loving home and living inside for the first time. |
