What a pretty little pixie this young-adult Dobergirl is!  Sadly, her human, an older man, died in his sleep, leaving her to the graces of others who saw to it she ended up with us at DRT.  He was her primary human contact, and as a result she didn’t seem to have had much socialization upon arrival. That having been said, she warms right up once she’s comfortable with a new person.

This type of initial hesitancy is common in many of the Dobers who come to us.  Despite the misconceptions of many who don’t really know anything about the breed, Dobers are gentle and respectful by nature, and tend to “wait and see” when initially assessing a situation or person. This one clearly is a loving, gentle young lady who craves loving human contact and is quietly eager for interaction and play.

Observations from our volunteers:

“A first impression of Springbank will be how shy she appears. That’s not exactly the case though. Her world recently was turned upside down, and it’s going to take a little time for her to get her bearings back. When I first met her, she was barking at me from about 10 feet away from the other side of the gate into the ramp, but her tail was wagging. I knelt down and starting talking to her softly, and she quickly came close enough to lick my fingers. After a bit, I ventured through the gate and she initially backed away but then came slowly to me after I knelt down again. She gave me a few tentative kisses and seemed to relax. That tail of hers never stopped wagging and you could tell she was a happy dog!”

"The pictures of Springbank don‘t lie; she is really that cute - another petite female to come through the DRT ranks.  There‘s some spunk in this girl, but she‘s like putty in your hands (although maybe I should say in your lap!)  When she runs off her social anxiety, it resembles a case of the ‘zoomies‘ and just brings a smile to your face watching her.  She can be a little bit of a talker. but her intentions are as pure as her desire to be loved.  Springbank is definitely one of my favorites!"

From all observations, this is just a lovely little girl who’s lost her human and home and who keenly wants a new family with whom to bond.  Make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come see in person what a gem she is.
