This handsome, young-adult Doberboy came to us from a fellow who had to move from a country home with four acres of running/exploring space, to a home in the city and didn’t want the dog to have to be a city dweller after growing up on the farm, so to speak. Because of his former, expansive home/land, we would love for him to have at least a good-sized yard and fence in his new home. He’s all of the things we love about our favorite breed - handsome, well-formed, intelligent, interactive, happy, and playful.
Here’s how our volunteers describe him: “Strat is a friendly, happy guy. During our first meeting in a big field, he was fascinated by all the smells, running and exploring. After he had a chance to satisfy his curiosity, I was able to call and encourage him to come to me and he did – three times. When I threw the ball, he didn’t express any interest and only ran for it when I started to run for it. When we got to it he gave it a look, and then gave me a look - like ‘What?’ So that’s not his idea of fun. Maybe it didn’t smell interesting! He definitely pulled on the slip lead as we went to and from the field, but I kept working with him and I could tell that he is capable of learning better manners in that regard – he just needs some time and practice. Visually, he’s a beautiful Dobe. His markings are a deep chestnut – very pretty. He seems pretty easy going – not begging for attention, but companionable.”
“This young guy was a little skittish when we first met. That disappeared after a few minutes as we were exploring the field together. He really liked checking out all the new sights and smells while we were there. Every once in a while, he’d run over to briefly check on me. He’s very friendly once he gets to know you.”
This is an easygoing, good-eye-contact, patient-but-ready fellow who will make an excellent companion for many years to come. If you think he may be a fit for your home, make an appointment to meet him as soon as your application is approved, and come prepared to take him home with you!
