What a perfect little beauty this pup is! She came to us from a family that spent a lot of money to buy her and train her. But as happens so often, well-intended though they were, they had no idea what it takes to raise a puppy. She now has good leash manners and knows an assortment of commands, but she’s an energetic puppy that hasn’t settled in yet and is very lively. And as puppy are wont to do, she still loves to jump up, but we’re working on that with her.
Here’s what her former owners have to say: “She is a very active dog. Her favorite past time is to play fetch with a tennis ball in the back yard. We purchased her from a breeder when she was 14 weeks old. This was our first puppy as a family, and we did not fully understand the time commitment involved. We sent her to a three-week, board-and -train program and saw some improvement in her behavior. She simply needs more time and attention than my wife and I can give her as we have three young children and a cat. With the right family, Luna can be a great addition to the family.” She loves to play and interact with other dogs, and she’s just generally full of goodwill and eagerness to be engaged.
Volunteer observations: “A very sweet and very energetic young girl! Great personality, and very friendly and quick to warm up. She does have a habit of jumping on people in a excited and friendly way, and needs some work in that area. She was pretty good on the leash and would heel and sit on command. She needs some more work of staying when in a stay mode or a down mode. Also, gets a little bit distracted while on the leash when she hears other peoples voices or other dogs. Definitely very workable, warm and sweet girl. Just needs the right person with patience to work with her daily on that leash.”
I think that really tells the story. Here is a high-quality, trained dog that is still a puppy and needs all the time, attention, companionship, play, and exercise a puppy requires as it matures into an outstanding adult. At her age, that’s still more than a year away. The more time put in with such a puppy, the better the outcome as an adult.
If you understand what goes into bringing a quality pup along to adulthood, and if you can make such a commitment, set an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come see what a terrific gal she is. There are no disappointments here - only the need for a family that can give her the time needed to mature. The result will be a lifetime of outstanding companionship.
