This precious little Doberpup came to us from yet another family where the marriage was in trouble and a move was imminent. Thankfully she’s young enough to still be very adaptable, and in her time with us so far, she’s proving that point. She’s as sweet as can be - full of goodwill, playfulness, and curiosity - always ready for whatever may be the order of the day and eager just to be a part of anything her human is up to. And she loves to give kisses!
She’s well-behaved, but initially wouldn’t move on leash. I’m laughing at what Carol had to say about that when she arrived: “This Dobe had to be carried everywhere the first day she came to DRT (since she wouldn’t walk on leash). After that, she decided we were all good and now jumps all over us, tries to climb in our laps, and wants attention just like any other youngster! She‘s a live wire, but sweet as can be.” And she added, “She‘s completely house trained and doesn‘t chew up anything - good little pup.”
She does need some work on jumping up, and her new family will need to be patient. We‘ve been working with her regularly and have finally gotten her to sit instead of jump, but then she forgets herself with a new person. She’ll continue to improve; she’s just still a pup with more learning to do.
Volunteer observations:
“You can’t help but fall in love with this beautiful young girl. She is so eager to be close and show you how happy she is. Every time I’d sit with her she was up on my lap, and you could tell she was happy as could be. She has an infectious personality that would bring a smile to just about anybody. She has a slender face, and the rust coloration on her is as vibrant as I‘ve seen on a Dobe.”
“There is cute and then there is Magdalene. Without a doubt, she is one of the cutest Dobes to come through DRT since I began volunteering 4 years ago (and we have had some super cute ones). She is absolutely a lover by nature. She wants to be on you, touching you or giving you kisses. She smiles when she gets attention and just exudes happiness. She does have a smidgen of hesitancy upon introduction, but I think this has as much to do with her acclimating to new surroundings. She is very manageable, with just the right amount of energy. She will easily take to socialization with her warm personality ,and she‘s eager to build trust with people. Great pup!”
