This picture-perfect, soon-to-be-an-adult Doberboy is as handsome as they come and has a personality to match. He came to us from a family who said he’s too needy and was a mismatch for their family. In other words, he’s a typical juvenile Doberman.
It’s always challenging to raise a puppy. There’s lots of work, attention, training, and nurture required to get one from birth to maturity. Quite often we find people giving up after they’ve done most of the hard work and within months of the puppy becoming an adult and settling in.
I’m not saying there’s a predictable moment when a dog transforms to adulthood, but they certainly do move from rowdy youngster to loyal companion at some point around two years of age. It just takes a good measure of patience to get there, and some people don’t have the wherewithal to outlast the puppy phase. All the better for those who adopt such dogs, because most of the hard work is done!
This handsome, engaged, energetic, enthusiastic fellow is a perfect example and one who will, no doubt, mature into everything one could hope for in a Dober.
Volunteer observations: “Here’s a big boy that never met a stranger! As soon as I met him, he was up on my chest to give me kisses. He really is a happy fella. Being people friendly will never be a concern with Kilhoman. He just needs a little leash work because of his enthusiasm. This boy’s good looks and winning personality are as good as they come!
“Yes, Kilhoman really is at handsome as the pictures in his profile. Plus, he has a great personality to match his good looks, with a sweet demeanor that wants affection. He is calm and confident and is easy to be around. While I was working in the playground this weekend I noticed he would intentionally lie down in his run as close as possible to where I was working. If I moved to the other side of the pen, he would move too. He was patient and didn‘t bark at me, but was definitely letting me know he wanted to be my helper. With jumping up to say hello and trying to give kisses, his youthful enthusiasm may run ahead of good manners at the moment, but that’s all trainable and subject to the wishes of his new family.”
If you’re serious about wanting a top-quality Dober, you’d better make an appointment to meet him as soon as your application is approved. He’s not going to be with us for long. |
