This slender, goofy Doberboy came to us from a shelter where a person dropped him off, explaining that the dog had been wandering around loose for a long time.  He eventually decided to take action on the dog’s behalf, and took him to the shelter.

Carol says “He can be nervous at first (so typical of this highborn breed), but warms up quickly and is one of the most gentle, social and silly Dobes you will meet!”

While we don’t know any more about his history, it’s clear that he is an uncomplicated, easygoing, interested fellow who just loves to play and interact with his human.  The worst we could say about him is that he needs to put on a few pounds, but Mama Carol is already addressing that need, and he may even be up to weight by the time he goes home with a new, forever family.

Volunteer observations:
“He was very happily excited when another volunteer and I entered the field.  He sniffed me initially, and then he started hopping around, wanting to play.  As I was walking around the field, he ran towards me and let me pet him.  He never jumped on me. I could tell he was just so happy to be around someone.  This dog is full of energy and very lovable. What an absolute sweetheart!”

“Oban is a pure delight.  He is super friendly; he is playful, and he’s obviously a great looking Dobe.  He has this hop about him when he is trying to initiate playtime - very cute.  He is still growing into his body, so he has this goofiness about him that is also very cute.  He loves attention and definitely has that "Doberman lean" when he is getting or wanting attention.   He seems to be quiet and remains quiet even when the other Dobes start barking.  I‘ve seen a lot of Dobes come through DRT, and I can say without reserve, I really like this guy!”

“What a love bug! I spent 10 minutes with Oban in a run in the playground, and boy was it fun!  I sat on the ground as he was watching someone walk by. The next thing I know, here are four legs and a body trying to figure out how to sit on my lap. You’d have thought he’d known me since he was a puppy. What a happy, loving boy this is! I’m not sure which one of us was enjoying it more.”

There‘s really nothing that needs to be added at this point other than to say, make an appointment to meet him once your application is approved, and come spend a bit of time getting acquainted.  There will be no disappointments if you do.
