What a beautiful, sturdy-looking-yet-petite Dobergal this is - really very attractive.
Despite her compact size, she’s exceptionally energetic and strong. In fact, Carol says she’s the strongest female of her size to have come through DRT. With the recent changes in her life, she was very unsettled upon arriving. Many are, of course, and with a bit of time to adjust, they settle in and become more at ease.
She needs work on her leash manners and on jumping up, but on command she sits and waits to eat. She’s a very active girl, and her former mom describes here thus: “She’s a sweet dog but needs more attention than I can provide her. She‘s high energy and loving. She likes being around people and is playful with my daughter. When she‘s outside, she wants her human with her and will bark to get someone to be out with her.”
Volunteer observations: “Scapa is a very striking Dobie gal. She is even better looking in person than in the pictures. She is still acclimating to her new environment and was a little tentative to engage at introduction. She engages especially well with Carol at this point, and her excitement and trust are clearly evident around her. This suggests that she will blossom as her comfort level increases, as with so many rescue Dobes. Scapa seems to have the type of personality that will form a very strong connection with her human family, and she responds very positively to love shown."
This sounds like a sweet Dobergirl who needs assurance, nurture, and some loving guidance and training to help her realize her full potential. If you think your family may be the one to bring her along and to bond with her for a lifetime, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come see for yourself what a great gal she is.
