This well-formed, beautiful young Dobergirl has a manner and appearance that says “all Doberman.” She’s perhaps a bit sturdier than need be, weight wise, but she really presents a striking appearance all the same. And some walks with her new owner will do them both good, no doubt! She came to us from an older couple who dearly wanted a puppy at the time, but are now at the point where they can’t manage her care anymore, so she has thankfully come to Elijah’s House as she awaits a new home.
They loved her all the same, and her former mom shared these comments about her:
“She knows to ‘Bring it’ on command and to ‘Get your ball/bone’ etc., by name. We will throw/kick the ball or hold the bone for her, and if we tell her to lie down, she will chew it. We tell her ‘Stop’ for her to stop what she is doing - same as ‘No.’ (That will also stop where she is going.) She knows to sit and down, and we trained her to ‘Stand’ and ‘Turn Around.’ Interestingly, we tell her ‘Come’ but she doesn‘t listen. And ‘No barking’ works for a moment. She loves ear, neck, and shoulder rubs. She won‘t sleep in my lap, but she’ll stick her snout under or between our legs to get a hug -- her version of cuddling. If she does and you pet her, she‘ll slide to the floor for a shoulder massage. She also likes her stomach rubbed and will roll over for it.”
Volunteer observations:
“Dailuane is a sweet and sensitive Dobergirl. Her personality and temperament are definitely a plus. She is a bit shy on introduction; she wants to trust but needs a few moments to build up to it. She is very manageable and well mannered.”
From all accounts, this sweet, gentle girl will make a loving and responsive companion for many years to come.
