This handsome, sturdy fellow has no history known to us due to his having come from a shelter. All we know is what we see and learn from interacting with him, and I can tell you, it’s all good.
He’s a bit lean at the moment (perhaps from having been a stray), but he has a terrific build and a chiseled look that says “all Doberman.” And don’t let his sober-faced expressions put you off. The fact is, he’s outgoing, fun to be with, and always engages with his humans.
Volunteer observations: “Sometimes you can tell the whether a Dobe is male or female just by its look , and Talisker obviously looks like a boy. He’s nice looking, and his red coat feels like satin, which isn’t always the case with reds. As I visited with him in the small exercise yard, he was more interested in checking out all the smells there than in being petted, although he wasn’t averse to being petted. I interpreted this as him being more self-confident than rescues sometimes are. He didn’t seem needy for attention, but he loved receiving it all the same.”
“Talisker struck me as a real people lover. He loves to run and jump, but he also strikes me as a total lover who would be happy snuggled up with his human - one with whom a Netflix and chill night would be just perfect!”
"This boy is a natural born athlete! Watching him run as fast as he does is pure joy. It’s so easy and natural for him, that you marvel at his grace and energy. After sprinting around Ivory’s Coast, he returned to check on me. He seemed to appreciate the attention I was giving him, which he returned in kind. He’s not an overly large Dober, but he’s surprisingly strong, and I suspect he hasn’t had much experience on a leash.”
"Talisker is just another good looking red male. He is a little thin but he won‘t stay that way for long. He was friendly when I met him (without an introduction from another volunteer). Good personality and good energy. He has a curious spirit and loves to run. You can tell he wants to play but waits for you to engage. He needs someone to work with him on his manners, but his intentions are good. By manners, I mean he pulls on the leash and jumps up in an attempt to be face to face - very fixable and common."
" I have to admit. this red boy was my favorite this past weekend. He has that “never met a stranger” personality, and will readily share his affection with you. He is a little under weight, which I’m sure Carol will take care of in short order. Once she works her magic, this guy will be one handsome Dober."
Observations from guests: “Talisker has a very nice demeanor. He came to each of us freely and without hesitation for love pets. And he loves to play ball!"
I’ll never understand how a Dober such as this ends up as a stray, but his former setbacks notwithstanding, he’s going to make a superb companion in a new, forever home. If you think yours may be the one, make an appointment to meet him once your application is approved, and come see in person what a prize he is.” |
