Reverse-cropped-and-flopped ears notwithstanding, what a lovely, lovely Dobergirl this is. Look at that face and those eyes - she’s just a beauty.
She came to us from a shelter where she had been dropped off by her owner because he was moving to an apartment with breed restrictions. He had owned her since she was a year old and said "She is the best dog I‘ve ever had -- she loves to ride with you and cuddle with you; if need be, she would die with you as well, very loyal." If there were any way possible, I’d buy a motor home and live in it before I’d give up my dog. My heart goes out to this man who apparently had no other choice than to surrender his beloved companion of so many years.
She knows a variety of commands, including “Sit,” “Paw,” and “Lay Down.” She also is good off leash and loves to play fetch or Frisbee. She loves treats, especially popcorn and potato chips.
Right now she‘s a little anxious and whines some. This is likely due to the recent loss of her home and human and will probably subside once she knows she’s home again. Her coat is a bit sparse, but we’ve started her on supplements, so that will soon show improvement.
Volunteer comments:
“Melina is just a sweet Dober and eager to please. She is laid back and easy to love, and she makes you want to hang out with her. She just puts a smile on your face. She is average sized and easy to manage.”
"Very excited, brings a smile to your face as she seems to always be in a good mood. Goes around to anyone around, and Loves to be pet by everyone! She will be an exciting addition to a family looking for a new loving dobie!"
“The first thing one notices about this blue lady is the unusual ear crop/flop inflicted on her. But it doesn’t diminish her friendly and sweet personality, which shines through immediately. In the corral she was curious about what was going on around us, but she was equally interested in me. I would have liked to have had more time to spend with her!”
Here’s another excellent, uncomplicated Dober who just wants to be in a loving home again. Make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come see that she’s even better in person.
