Ellison is a very handsome, middle-aged Doberboy that currently has a sparse coat.  Carol has him on supplements now, and before long that will improve.  He came to us from a home where his mom had arthritis and a very busy soccer-mom schedule, so she decided to surrender him.

He looks a bit sober faced, but everything about him so far is very positive.  He knows to sit and give paw on command and to give paw for treats.  He loves to run and play outside, playing with other dogs or people and going on long walks.  His favorite toys are pretty much any toy he can chew.

Volunteer observations:
“Ellison was easy on leash.  He was curious about people and other animals, which is always good sign of intelligence!  He has a pleasant disposition and is confidently independent, but he still liked to be around a human.”

“I spent some time with Ellison recently and learned he’s gentle, strong, independent fellow.  His bark may initially sound a bit intimidating, but he has a quiet, caring soul.  In my short time with him, he struck me as being very loyal, and the type of dog who would stand by his human’s side and protect from harm, if needed.  He loves to explore but is also content doing whatever, or absolutely nothing at all - happy to explore, happy to snore!  He’s very obedient, and he sat and shook on command.”

“What struck me right away was this blue boy’s striking profile and intense gaze. He has a certain presence and profile that you can’t help but notice. When I had him in the corral he was friendly, but more interested in what was going on all around. He wasn’t missing a thing, whether it was other dogs or people.”

"Ellison has a calm presence and is a bit shy, but he loves to be by you once he knows you. He’s very curious, and he loves to look around to know what’s going on around  him.  But he comes back to you to be by your side. He is very gentle and a bit shy at first, but warms right up.”

“Ellison has a stunning face. He is a bit light on hair right now, but you don‘t realize it until you get close to him. He seems comfortable with himself, which allows for quicker acceptance of new people. He seems to be a bit of an explorer and is definitely not the type of Dober who refuses to leave your side.  He has good energy and was easy to manage.  His overall appearance and demeanor, and the way he carries himself, are representative of how one expects a Doberman to look and behave. Overall, he’s just a cool dog!”

This fellow seems to be an excellent example of the breed and only lacks a bit of nutrients for his coat and a new, loving home.  Make an appointment to meet him once your application is approved, and come spend a bit of time looking him over and getting acquainted.  You won’t be disappointed if you do.
