This sweet, humble, emaciated, used-up-and-abandoned little Dobergirl came to us from a lady who was driving along and, well, I‘ll let her tell it: “This poor girl jumped out from the woods in front of me at dusk a couple of weeks ago. She seemed desperate for help and was very scared. She‘s just skin and bones (35-40 lbs when this woman found her), but she put her trust in me and knew I was not a threat to her. She could sense I was safe. She was obviously badly neglected and had recently had puppies. It appeared she must have been a backyard-breeding dog that was dumped considering her condition. With the short amount of time she’s been with me, she‘s wagging her tail and letting me love her and give her a bath. She’s learning not all humans are bad and is beginning to feel what love is, because she clearly never knew it before.
She doesn’t know any commands or tricks yet, but she’s a willing learner. Her favorite “game”is for me to get on her level low to the ground and give her praise and sweet talk her. She loves to play with a soccer ball.
She deserves a forever loving home to live out her best life. I wish I could be her mom, but I‘m at a maximum capacity of pets right now. I know someone out there will be responsible enough to love her for the sweet girl she is. Her name should be Sweetie.”
Volunteer comments: “This poor girl looks like she’s had a rough go of it for a while. She’s way underweight (but have no fear – DRT is here! Carol will have this girl looking great in short order). Despite her recent past, her character and charm are still intact. She’s a little hesitant when she first meets you but warms up quickly. I saw her interact with an energetic male Doberpup today, and I was surprised at how tolerant she was of his shenanigans. Most girls would have snapped at him just enough to set boundaries. She has tremendous potential!”
“Zangara is a petite cutie pie. She is a little too slim right now, but she will be a total knockout when she fills out the way she should. She has a very sweet demeanor with a sensitive soul. She is a little timid at introduction, but she seems to be making great strides in opening up to all the new people and surroundings. She is very easy to manage.”
If you’ve read this far, then your heart is responding to this sweet little girl. If your home and family can provide her with the love and nurture that has been lacking in her life prior to this, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved. Meet her, hug her, take her home. You’ll both be blessed if you do. |
