I confess that while I love every Dober I’ve ever seen, I favor the large ones, and this big fellow checks pretty much all the boxes for me. His owner went through a divorce and is now a single mom with three kids, living at her grandmother‘s home. No doubt some of you have lived some variation on that story, and our sympathy goes to her, her family, and dear Nikopol for what they are going through.
His former mom initially placed her beloved Doberman with a friend of a friend, who kept him almost a year. Then one day he got in touch with her, told her he was moving and didn‘t want the dog anymore, and was going to drop him at the nearest shelter if she didn‘t pick him up immediately! The dog had not done anything wrong, and she was shocked and mystified as to how the man could be so heartless.
So he has come to us, thankfully, as he awaits a soon-to-be forever home. He’s sweet, settled, handsome, and good-natured. He doesn’t seem to like getting into a vehicle at this point (not wanting to be taken and left someplace again?), but he rides well once in and is obedient otherwise -- comes when called, walks nicely on leash, etc.
Volunteer comments: “Nikko is just one of the most likeable Dobers around. He has a great personality and is very good looking. He is solidly built but not overweight. He loves a walk on the leash, and you can tell he is familiar with the process. He is definitely a people Dober, wants all the attention you are willing to provide, and seems very easygoing and adaptable.”
From all indications, this fellow is just about perfect in every way. Don’t delay in making an appointment once your application is approved. No discerning, aspiring Dober owner who’s looking for a dog like this is going to meet him and go home without him! |
