As often happens, this pretty, slender, middle-aged Dobergirl came to us as the result of divorce.  Upon arrival, she seemed uncertain around her human.  It may be that she was unsettled due to the changing of her circumstances, or perhaps she was reading his stress with the upheaval in his life.  Either way, our vet said she was fine for her exam, and she was relaxed and had a great time with one of our volunteers her first evening here.

She’s good with other dogs and with cats. And she lived with two children, so she’s well-acclimated all around.  She’s friendly and appreciative of attention, and just seems to want stability and certainty in her life again.  She happily responds to our volunteers and, and we have no doubt she’ll settle in quickly to a stable home once again.

Volunteer comments:

“Dolynska was very polite with me and wanted to be petted and obviously craves attention. She was a little unsure at first, being in a new place with new people, but she eased up immediately and seemed more relaxed once she was outside in the exercise field.  She didn‘t want to be left alone and barked at first, but even having another dog with her calmed her and made her feel more at ease. It seems obvious that she just needs someone to love on her.”

“This is one smart dog.  The first thing that got my attention was her excited barking when she was in the corral by herself. As soon as I came in to meet her she stopped, and between her kisses and her wagging tail I knew she had gotten what she wanted! The second thing was that as soon as she was let back in the outside area of her run, she ran up to the door to the inside and hit it with her paw a few times as if to say ‘Hey I’m here, let me in.’”

“Dolynska is initially quite vocal but then shy at first when out of her run, so I just sat quietly and talked soothingly to her for a few moments.  She really liked that and readily came close for some neck rubs and eye contact.”

“Dolynska is a tall, svelte girl who has an air of calm about her.  At our first meeting she was neither shy nor forward, but instead, composed.  She took a few sniffs, decided I was friendly, and then enjoyed being petted.  She especially appreciated the neck scratches.”

"Dolynska looks like a ballerina, with her long, slender limbs and graceful moves.  She has a cute way of begging for more treats –  if she knows you’ve got more and aren’t handing them over - she’ll look you in the eye and give a little ‘woof’.  You’re not fooling her!"

"All the volunteers at Doberman Rescue have a favorite dog. It’s interesting because everyone’s favorite is a different dog. My favorite is Dolynska. She has a great personality. She makes me smile every time I see her. If I’m feeling down, she knows just how to snuggle up to me and make me feel better. I find myself having conversations with her and she seems to understand. She really enjoys her one on one time with people. I can walk her past other dogs and she just walks by like a princess. She is truly a great dog."

I think you can tell from the comments that this sweet girl was just a little off balance early on due to the sudden changes in her life and wants nothing more than the comfort and predictability of a loving home once again.  If you think yours may be a match, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come for a visit.  She’ll be right in her element once she’s in a stable and loving home again.
