Our newest Dober is another one that is cream in color with white markings. I don’t recall when we’ve had two at the same time. As with our other Dobers during this period, his name is a nod to the Ukrainian people in their most recent struggles. He came to Elijah’s House through Rescue Angels (may their tribe increase) who delivered him to us from a rescue group that had received him from a shelter after his owner died.
Despite being shuffled around a bit following the passing of his human, he’s a wonderfully sweet-tempered and loving fellow who wants to be close to and friendly with everyone. In fact, Mama Carol shared this observation: “I can‘t say enough nice things about him, and that‘s exactly what the last rescue person who had him said to me!” He’s small in size and could use a little additional weight, but he’s in great shape and ready for a new, loving home. My sense of him is that he’ll be an appreciative and immediate fit.
Volunteer comments: I really like Dubno! He has a happy disposition and was immediately friendly. When I entered the corral, he even did a little happy dance. When I sat down on the bench, it was as though someone flipped a switch as he became the “Velcro” Dober that so many of us are familiar with. He just got as close as he could, clearly expectating that it was time for him to get some loving. He has good energy, was easily manageable, and he devotedly focused on me, loving me and soaking up the attention.”
“Dubno is a really nice Dober. For those that are a little older and remember the TV show "The White Shadow," this is Dubno. He waits for you at the gate and follows you around the fields wanting to stay by your side. Look over your shoulder, yeah, he‘s there - a true companion! He is mostly quiet and definitely patient. He doesn‘t need to be the center of attention, but is happiest whenever he is included on anything with his human friends.”
If you don’t make an appointment to meet him as soon as your application is approved, you must not really want a Dober, because you won’‘t find a nicer one than this. |
