Dr. Luke indicates that when the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary, he proclaimed, "Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end."

And Matthew writes, “Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is he that is born King of the Jews?’ for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.”

Kingly is named in honor of the Christmas season and the birthday of a king.  He‘s a senior Doberman who, like the one whose name he honors, is kind, gentle, patient, sweet, and loving.  In fact, name any desirable trait, and he has it.

He came to us from a gentleman of 92 years who broke his hip and said he can no longer care for him.  His owner’s unfortunate circumstances were reflected in the fact that Kingly had been kept outside and was greatly in need of a bath.  Happily, after a bath and vet visit he began showing his true (and wonderful) colors.  He‘s about 85 lbs. - a large fellow who actually could use a bit more weight to flesh him out.

He seemed especially happy and grateful the first night, snuggled up in a fresh, clean bed with blankets, chew toys, and a variety of other goodies to make him happy.

This handsome fellow seems like a “wash and wear” Dober - nothing needed but a loving home and nurturing family.

Volunteer comments:
“‘Kingly’ - what an apt name for this regal boy.  He carries himself with the calm assurance and grace befitting his royal name.  When I met Kingly, he looked at me with steady eyes as he approached so we could become acquainted.  This very mellow fellow loves to be close and really appreciates a loving touch.  If I took my hand off of him, he would look up as if to let me know that I wasn’t finished and that he needed more gentle strokes.  He strikes me as one who will be a calm, loving, loyal companion.”

There it is.  Make that appointment once your application is approved.  This one’s heading home with the first family that meets him, and a happy new year it will be for all concerned.
