We’ve named several of our recent arrivals with Thanksgiving-inspired names, and Zesty is one. She and another Dober came to us from the same home. The owner was going to be away for some time, so the owner’s brother and family (and dogs) moved into the home during her absence. All the dogs got along well with the exception of Zesty and a German Shepherd. Strangely, the solution hit upon by the brother was to surrender the Dobermans. As I often say, I can’t understand all I know. I’m just glad we were here to take them.
Zesty’s an independent gal with a mind of her own, but that having been said (and as you can see from the pictures), she’s a loving girl all the same.
As you can also see from the pictures, even at her young age, she has been repeatedly bred and has suckled multiple litters. There’s a lot I could say on that topic, but I don’t have the energy to drag out the soapbox yet again.
From what I can see, she’s as happy as can be to be done with the demands of breeding, and she’s enjoying the freedom and independence her change in circumstances has brought about, even as she continues to explore and examine what a life apart from breeding will be like.
Volunteer comments: “Zesty is a spunky Dobergirl with an outgoing personality and pretty red coloring. She jumps up on the gate door, anticipating your arrival, with the expectation that she will get some attention. The good news is that she doesn‘t jump up on you once you open the gate. As you can guess, she loves attention and seems to stay close by when you are working. She wants to be a helper to show her appreciation for your companionship. Despite her breeding history, she is an active girl who is equally content whether playing or chilling. She is simply happy hanging out and is quick to show her appreciation with affection. Her energy and her desire to establish a strong connection with her humans are outstanding qualities.”
This lovely girl is eager to be in a home, enjoying her new-found freedom and establishing bonds with her new humans. If you think your family may be a match, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come spend a bit of time loving on and being loved on by her. You‘ll be well pleased, if you do. |
