This beautifully formed and attractive young Dobergirl comes from a home where her owners had to move and the new place doesn’t allow Dobermans. It’s a common story. Having been either a landlord or part of a landlord family since 1962, I am sympathetic to wanting a good tenant, but I have nothing against particular breeds of dogs, especially Dobermans. That having been said, I agree that a property owner has the right to establish the terms;  I just don’t agree with the terms in this instance.

She came to us around Election Day, so given the absence of integrity in so much of what passes for politics, we named her Truth. We won’t have any impact on politicians, but we can at least advance the word and know that truth is what we get from our dogs. (Well, maybe with the exception of fibbing about whether or not they’ve been fed!)

Our girl Truth hasn’t had much for training or guidance to this point, and she’s still a teenager, so she’s high energy, pulls on leash, jumps up some, and barks for attention. She is dog friendly but has no understanding as to how to interact with other dogs. In her exuberance, she‘s annoying to them. All that means is that she’s a bit of raw material awaiting some finishing with her new owner.

As with all Dobers, she’s engaged, inquisitive, eager, and interested. She loves interactive play with her humans, and she loves squeaky toys. In her former home, she was an outdoor dog during the day, so she’ll especially appreciate being a part of the family and living inside.

Volunteer comments:
“She seems like a good girl, likes to run and play, and is very interested in sniffing for critters. She didn‘t play with the Jolly Ball too much at first, but she likes to be petted. She could use some leash training.”

“Truth is a sweet dog with a good personality, but she’s always on - a bit like the Energizer Bunny, she keeps going and going and going. She may slow down a bit as she gets older, but at this stage, she’s no couch potato!”

“This little girl is a great size, being rather petite. She’s energetic, bright, and alert! She loves a light massage, and it calms her enthusiastic spirit.”

"The truth about Truth is that she is A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E.  She is a little female with a big personality!  She definitely sees herself as a princess.  She is very vocal and demands your attention.  However, what she receives in attention, she gives back twofold.  She not only wants to sit in your lap, she wants to show you her appreciation at the same time.  She loves the one on one attention of going for a walk on the leash but definitely needs some leash training.  She is very playful as well and her energy will last as long as you are willing to play.  Her good looks are enough to make most adopters take a look but it is her personality that will expedite adoption."

And Carol add this observation:
“She was out in the big middle field with two of our volunteers as they put down grass seed and top soil. As they worked, she ran and played nonstop for two hours straight, enjoying herself by playing with the Jolly Ball, coming up behind them and playfully nipping at their pants legs, and splashing around in the water trough. She can amuse herself, for sure!”

Truth is a lovely young Dober with all the potential to mature into an outstanding companion for many years to come. If you think your home is a match and are willing to put in the time and effort to guide her into adulthood, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come spend a bit of time observing and getting to know her. I suspect Truth will win the day, if you do.
