What a pretty, petite Dobergirl this is.

Her story is a sad one, all the same. She came to us from a place she had lived for about a year. In addition to the rabies shot she came with upon surrender, DRT had all her vaccinations updated, medication for ear infection both ears, antibiotics, and Home Again micro chip. Thankfully, she didn’t have heart worms.

The real issue (and if you look closely you’ll see the signs of it) was that she had been all bitten up from multiple fights with a German Shepherd. Happily, she still likes other dogs and has not shown any signs of not getting along with the other Dobers here at Elijah‘s House.

Our job is to take them in, see that they’re well, give them love and care, and find matching homes. We still can’t help but wonder in some instances what life must have been like before coming to DRT. We’re just glad we’re available for the dogs that need us.

My current Doberboy was so misused in his former environment, that he is profoundly timid. It’s taken nearly three years for him to dare to bark at a car pulling into the yard or a person at the door. But there never was a more loving and obedient dog, and he wants to be right by our sides every moment.

You won’t be surprised to learn that this little one is tentative when first meeting strangers, but she warms up after a bit.   She’s energetic, playful, and wants to be loved. She’ll certainly blossom in a home where she feels safe and secure.

Volunteer comments:
          "
I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Rebecca last weekend. She was certainly a little shy as she was adjusting to her new surroundings, but I came to realize she was just one walk with the leash away from friendship!  Our walk started off, and she was a bit hesitant but begrudgingly came along.   At first, she stayed pretty close, and her every move seemed cautious and calculated.  She began to loosen up a little after about 100 yards as the smells were hypnotic, and she just couldn‘t resist the distraction!   By 200 yards, she was pulling me forward as if this was her walk and we were going to go where she wanted to go!  When we finished, I sat with her for a moment.  By now we were buddies with some kisses tossed in.  To me, this speaks to her resiliency and overall personality.   She is a sweet gal and has a heart of gold."

If a small Dobergirl with a loving heart and manner sounds like a fit for your home, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved. Spend a bit of time observing, interacting with, and getting to know her. You won’t be disappointed, if you do.
