Good with other dogs.
Not good with cats... Very focused on cats. Will chase.
Good with older children.

This handsome, sturdy fellow came to us from a farm where he had been dumped at the edge of the property. The owners took him in and worked with him temporarily while they tried to see if anyone would claim him.

He didn’t have much for house manners, but he got along well with their three dogs. They got the impression that he had been neglected/abused because he wouldn‘t play with toys. That supposition would be further supported by the fact that he was only current on  a rabies vaccine (he‘s up to date on all vaccines now), had heart worms, and also had a rotten canine tooth that had to be removed.

Regular readers are familiar with our pleas for assistance with the high cost of heart worm treatment. As you know, without it, a dog will die. Anything you might care to donate in his behalf will be appreciated and used entirely for heart worm treatment.

He has a strong prey drive, so he needs a no-cat home. That said, he loves his humans, has a sweet disposition, and wants to be by a person’s side all the time (typical Dober behaviors!) His temporary mom says “We have put a lot of time into him, bringing his training along, and we are currently working on his recall. He is also learning to heel while being walked.”

Now he’s at Elijah’s House, and we’re hoping for his sake that soon a matching family will be found to make him part of their forever home.

Volunteer comments:

"This is THE complete dog.  He has a loving personality, and you couldn‘t ask for anything more."

If you think your family may be a match, make an appointment to meet him once you’re application is approved. Come meet and spend some time getting to know him. He’s a true beauty, and with a family who will love and nurture him, he’ll make a great companion for years to come.
