This pretty, happy Dobergirl may be the sweetest one we’ve ever seen!  She just is a doll - loving, gentle, eager to be close - really just a dream of a Dober.  She seems to always have a smile on her face and to be ready to greet and interact with anybody.

She lived with children in her former home.  Sadly, she was surrendered because she is heart worm positive and her owners could not afford the costly treatment.  If you’re a regular visitor to our site, you’ve seen our pleas for assistance in meeting the significant added expense of the dangerous-but-vital heart worm treatment for those dogs that come to us with worms.

Now once again we appeal to your mercy on behalf of Mercy, in the hope you may be able to make a modest donation toward her treatment. We’ll be very grateful for anything you may be able to do to help secure a healthy future for her.

Her favorite toys are tennis balls and rope toys.  She likes to fetch but doesn't always like to release.  A simple verbal command of "Off" will do the trick, however, and she will let go of it.

Her former owner shares these comments regarding her:

•    She is very food driven.
•    She sleeps in crate at night by saying "Go to bed."
•    She knows basic German commands for: sit, lay, stay (blieb) lay, or down (plotz).
•    Say "Off" or "Out" for her to release a toy.
•    She loves people and all people contact.
•    We would tell her to sit before coming into the house so she doesn't run down the door!
•    She waits to start eating until told “OK."
•    She “air snaps” when excited but not at anyone (kind of like an enthusiastic exclamation).

And Mama Carol adds, “This is the happiest Doberman I've ever seen.”

Volunteer comments:
"Mercy is an inquisitive dober-girl.  She loves to explore and immediately runs the perimeter of any field she goes into at DRT.  She is also a very happy dobe.  It is fun to watch her run around and enjoy the outdoors as you can literally see a smile on her face.  She was also very sweet and calm upon my introduction to her.  Last but not least, she is a quiet dobe.  She doesn't bark to get your attention or at the other dogs during my experience with her last weekend.  Just an easy going girl that will make you as happy as you make her."

“What a sweetheart!  Mercy is one of those dogs that you can immediately tell is truly happy to be around people.  Her nearly constant smile is a dead giveaway.  The old expression “never met a stranger” comes to mind as soon as you meet this lovable gal.  She’ll let you know right away how happy she is to meet you.  Her personality would be hard for anyone to resist!” "Had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know Mercy."

"She is a real sweet heart of a lady.  She knows basic commands, plays with her toys and released them when asked to do so.  She did not try to jump up on me.  I really enjoyed being with her."

If sweet, loving, and gentle are what you’re looking for in a Dober, you won’t find one who fits the bill any better than this.  Make an appointment once your application is approved, and come see for yourself.
