---------------

This beautiful senior Dobergirl came to us from a two-Dober home, where she had been since a pup.  Her male Dober companion had come from another home to join her.  Sadly, the owner ended up on hospice and passed, leaving them both in need of a new home.  Initial contact indicated that they were to going to come to us as a pair, but for some reason the male was returned to his previous owner before that happened, leaving her somewhat adrift without her companion.

She has arthritis up her back, which apparently had made her a bit snappish at times with the other family Dober, who likely wanted to play at a level beyond her comfort.  Thankfully, she’s now on arthritis medication and is much more active, walks better, and holds her back straight once again.  She barks at other dogs through the fence but is friendly and engaging when out on walks.

All in all, she’s a lovely older girl who doing wonderfully well with us, and she’ll make an excellent companion for a home that has a heart for a senior Dober.

Volunteer comments:
“Baskette may be small in stature, but she’s large in personality.  Someone along the way has spoiled this girl.  She will talk to you until you acknowledge her and demand your attention, and her desire for attention makes her a friend to all she meets.  She has good energy and is quite active when outdoors.  She’s not overly excited by dog toys but will do anything to get a good scratch behind her ears or on her backside!  She’s a well-seasoned, well-behaved Dober, and I think she’ll be a "plug and play" addition to her new home.”

“Baskette’s intake info suggested she might not do well with other dogs, so we tested her by walking her side-by-side with the three of our current male dogs.  Surprise, surprise!  She did great and was a model citizen!  She even got down in a playful position with one of the dogs. Age and arthritis notwithstanding, she’s a special Dober with a great spirit and attitude.”

If you think this grand and beautiful senior may be a match for your home, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come spend a bit of time observing and getting to know her.  You won’t be disappointed, if you do..
