This beautiful, young, petite Dobergirl came to us via a rescue angel who fostered her for a couple of days prior to delivering her to Elijah’s House.  She, along with another Dober, had been found as strays and had been held at a shelter.  The other Dober was gone when our rescue angel arrived, and we have no idea what happened with him, so the rescue angel was happy to at least be able to help this one find her way safely to us.

We can see already that she’s just a bundle of love and affection - pure, clean, unaffected by any negative experience she may have had.  She’s very responsive to humans, easy to handle, and wants to please.

Here’s the description from the rescue angel who fostered her:
“She is very affectionate and will follow her person around.  After a full day of walks and time spent outside, she settles down readily for the evening.  She didn't appear to have been allowed on furniture as she didn't attempt to get on any at my house.  She was respectful of my home, although she did like to steal the spare sock or two.  But I did not find her to be destructive in any way!  She loves squeaky toys.  She is definitely food motivated and will offer a SIT if she thinks you have a treat of any kind.  She has a protective bark and will bark at someone when they enter the home.  She also barked at a few people while I walked her, but she easily redirects with correction. She is fairly good on car rides.  I took her to car pool pickups for my kids and she hung out in the front seat quite nicely.  She interacted nicely with my two kids.  She is a gem of a girl!”

In her time with us, we have discovered that she has Diabetes Insipidus.  The symptoms are excessive drinking/urination. It has two causes.  One is inadequate production of ADH-antidiuretic hormone.  The second cause is when the kidneys do not recognize the ADH.  There is no cure, but Diabetes Insipidus can be treated by using a synthetic formulation of ADH that is administered through eye drops. This solves the excessive need for water/urination, and the dog can live a normal, happy life.

You can see from her pictures how open and attentive she is.  Truly this is a gem of a Dobergirl just waiting for a loving home to adopt.  If you think yours may be the one, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come see for yourself what a gem she is.  And be sure to have a spare seat available in your vehicle, if you do.
