This beautiful, dignified-yet-playful Dobergirl was dropped at a shelter with the explanation that she didn’t get along with the other dog in the family.  The thing is, they’d only had her for one day, so the shelter considered her a stray.

She hasn’t shown any signs here of not getting along with other dogs - no barking, fence fighting, or lunging at other dogs. At the same, she’s a little crabby if they approach her dog dish when it has food in it, and she'll "nest" with her toys and is very possessive of them if another dog comes around.  This leads us to conclude she'll be better off as the only dog in the home.  Beyond that, our observation is that she’s a lovely example of our favorite breed, and she’ll like nothing better than to be in a loving forever home before long.

Her looks are striking, her demeanor is dignified, her coat and crop are beautiful, and she's proving to be an outstanding companion already in her short time with us.

Volunteer comments:
“I had an interesting first meeting with Flambeau today - interesting because she was genuinely at ease with me right from the start. She wasn’t the least bit nervous or affected by the circumstances that cause many dogs to feel afraid or scared when they first come to DRT. Their lives have been turned upside down, and they often don’t feel comfortable initially in this new environment. Flambeau seemed happy to meet me in the corral, and she quickly responded to a gentle rubbing of the ears. She was so relaxed that it made an immediate impression on me. Once past that initial impression, I noticed just what a pretty face she has. I wish I’d had more time with her, but she’d just had a bath, and it was cold and getting late. I’m looking forward to spending more time with her next week, is she’s still here.”

“She was a absolute pleasure to walk; she was very laid back and "zen.”  Toys don't seem to be her thing.  She would chase a ball but not pick it up.  She likes to sniff and explore her surroundings.  She would come by for a pet, then be off again, sniffing.  I liked her energy, I appreciate zen.”

“This is one beautiful girl and very laid back - most lovable and livable!”

“She’s such a laid back Dobergirl - very sweet.”

“Flambeau is a beautiful, young red female.  I saw her the day after she was spayed, so she wasn't feeling terribly energetic, but I know she can't wait to get out and play with the other Dobies. I took her outside and sat with her, and she is gentle and so very sweet.  She is a real looker and will turn heads when you go out for walks!"

This really is an outstanding Dobergirl with no issues or baggage, just ready for a new family on whom she can shower her love and devotion. If you think yours may be a match, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come meet her in person. You won’t be disappointed.
