This remarkably beautiful Dobergirl came to us from another breed-specific rescuer who took her temporarily to keep her from going to a shelter.

Her first home had been right by a military base where planes were constantly taking off and landing, and it was unsettling to her.  (Growing up near a Naval air station, I’m well familiar with the seemingly endless air traffic.)

Here’s how the rescue owner describes it:
“So they rehomed her to a family that lived well away from the base.  Unfortunately, they subsequently sold their house, left her with me, and told me to take her to the pound.  She had some health issues, so we took care of everything she needed.  She is typical Dobie and a real sweetie.  She deserves a once-and-for-all family to call her own.”

In further describing the dog, the rescuer added these random observations:
“She’s been an inside dog and is not a barker.  She respects the fence.  She will toy guard from other dogs.  She is allowed on our couch and beds.  She will get into the trash if left out and counter surf if allowed.  She does not dig or chase.  She loves to car ride.  She loves the water and swimming.  She will chase a ball all day.   She hasn’t had any formal training but knows basic obedience and loves to go for long walks.  She has no separation issues.  She does not care to be in the pens but will happily lie in bed or on the couch.  She is a really nice girl.  My house is a bit much for her, as we are a rescue and rehab facility.  She is not getting the attention she deserves.  She would love a family.  She is typical Dobie who follows you around   She is happy to just sit beside me or go play ball.  She likes to swim also.  She loves her ball.

And we have some comments from our volunteers:

“Sele is one playful, beautiful girl!   This little girl loves a ball of any size!  She doesn’t act her age, and is truly a puppy at heart.”

"Sele is an active 7 year old female that recently arrived at DRT.  She is quick to say hello and leaves no doubt that she is excited to meet you.  She does well on a leash but really wants you to play ball with her.  She will transition easily to her new home and earn her keep with the love and affection (and kisses) she will gladly provide!"

" What a beautiful sweetheart of a Dobe! When I met Sele, she came running up to the gate of the field she was playing in, placed her two front feet near the top of the gate a eagerly starting giving me happy kisses. I believe Sele may have also come from a recent visit to the Fountain of Youth. Carol swears she is (7) but she looks like she is no older than 4. Beautiful form and proportions."

All indications suggest that this is a well-balanced Dobergirl who has been through some challenges and has come out the other side with her happy Dober spirit fully intact.  All she needs now is a home where she can settle in and be the type of loyal, playful, loving companion Dobers were meant to be.

If you think your home may be a match, make an appointment to meet her once you application is approved, and come spend a little time interacting with her.  We already know she’s a beauty to look at.  You’ll see she’s a beautiful soul, to match.
