This beautiful young Doberpup is the sole survivor of an unexpected pregnancy during a time when her humans were going through a number of mind-numbing, real-life challenges.  In the midst of all the difficulties, their two adult Dobers got together and bred.  The litter was ill-fated as well, and this dear girl is the only one who survived.

Thankfully she has flourished and is not only beautiful, but is strong and healthy as well.  She didn't escape entirely unscathed all the same, and having just left the only environment she had known to this point, she was very shy and hesitant upon arrival and during the first few days with us.

She's completely house trained, and she'll come in and go out the doggy door to her run and explore the courtyard area, etc.  However, a leash was completely foreign to her, and she'd freeze when one was put on her.  Thankfully, already she's learning and adapting, and she's going for short walks with the leash as her confidence builds.

She has oodles of energy and enthusiasm and is really just a lovely pup with very little exposure to much of anything outside her former home.  She loves other dogs and would probably do well in a home with another young dog with whom she could play.  She's going to make a lovely companion for someone who is looking for a puppy to nurture and train and introduce to the wonders of life beyond her limited exposure.

Volunteer comments:
“Windi is super shy and needs socialization to gain confidence.  She's a real looker - a very good looking dog and not mean or aggressive at all.  She needs a home where the owner has time to work with her to build her confidence and help her blossom.  The outcome will be well worth the effort, as this dog will be extremely loyal and loving to the right family.  She's probably a better fit in a home without young kids or loud noises or other chaos, at least until she gains more confidence.  I look forward to working with Windi and seeing her come out of her shell.”

“Windi makes progress every day.  I was thrilled when she leaned against my leg today – I felt honored.  This Dobie is coming through!”

"From shy and shivering to shadow in two days.  Every now and then a Dobie comes to DRT that stands out above the rest - a special favorite.  Windi, for me, is just such a Dobie.  After a bit of attention and reassurance, her shell slowly started to peel away.  By the second day with her, she was following me from field to field as we covered the grounds at DRT.  I'm sure before long she'll be someone else's shadow, and she'll be their special favorite too.  (Although they may have to answer a few questions from me first!)"  :)

Do you remember that song “Windy,” made famous by The Association in 1967? (If you're too young to have heard it, you can find it on YouTube.) The second stanza lyric goes like this:

Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smiling at everybody she sees
Who's reaching out to capture a moment
Everyone knows it's Windy.

I see that as a fair description of this shy little girl once she gains confidence and comes into her own.

If you have a heart for a puppy who with a little loving guidance will mature into an outstanding adult Dober, make an appointment to meet her once your application is approved, and come see in person what a lovely girls she is.
