This beautiful Doberboy came to us through the courtesy of a rescue angel who had seen him at a shelter and arranged to transport him to us.

We can never properly thank the many rescue angels who have helped countless Dobers find their way to Elijah’s House through the years.  They seek no glory, but they are responsible for saving the lives of every dog they have brought to us.  The Bible speaks about those who do good in secret being rewarded openly.  Until that time, our heartfelt thanks will have to suffice.

On his arrival, we noted that the tips of his ears were bleeding a bit.  We’re not sure what had happened, whether perhaps he’d been snapped at through the chain link fence at the shelter or if perhaps he’d been somewhere where there had been lots of flies.  Maybe he just got his head in a tight spot and they were scratched while pulling it out.  No matter, really.  The damage was minimal and is healing nicely.  The only trouble was in trying to get good pictures of him for the website, because he’d shake his head and get a bit of blood on the sides of his face!

He was also underweight upon arrival, but as usual, Mama Carol is working her best feeding magic on him, and if he’s not adopted shortly, he’ll probably need to go on a diet.

Volunteer comments:
“By the second day of working with him, he was running to the fence to greet me and whining when I walked away.”

“Champagne is so-o-o-o much more handsome in person than in his pictures.”

"He has a sweet spirit.  I'm happy he's doing well."

“Besides being a sweet, lovable boy, Champagne loves to play.  He especially likes the rope toy, and we had lots of fun playing together.”

“What a sweet guy this is! I sat down with him in his run, and he lay down a foot or two away and reached out with one of his paws.  I gently rubbed his ears for a few minutes, and the next thing I knew, he got up and brought one of his toys over to me and wanted to play tug of war.  He was very happy playing and never acted possessive one bit.  Champagne is a fitting name for this boy as he has a heart of gold!”

If you think he may be a match for your home, make an appointment to meet him once your application is approved, and come spend some time getting to know him.  I’m guessing if you decide to make him a part of your family, you’ll be popping a cork in celebration before long.
