This beautiful, perfectly-formed, oversized Dobergirl came to us, along with her brother, from a loving home where they had lived since pups.  Unfortunately, both former owners have escalating health issues, with the husband being particularly ill, and there’s just no way possible for the wife to care for both him and the dogs and do any of them justice.  Even though he was larger, she always felt as though she needed to dominate him, and she apparently plagued her gentle giant of a brother to no end.  As a result, we'll be placing them separately.

She is a clean, active dog that lived inside at night and enjoyed a spacious backyard during the day, where she loved to run and play and chase Frisbees, balls, and bugs.  As with any good Dober, she's attentive, protective, and will investigate and make her presence known, as needed.  She likes to stay close to her human and is content to lie with her head on one’s feet.  She is very sociable and gets along with children.   She also knows a few commands, including the following: “Sit;” Stay;” “Come;” “No;” “Stop;” “Out,” and “Bathroom.”

Volunteer comments:
“She is a large and pensive girl.  She initially treats everyone with watchful caution.  However, after she carefully checked us out, she relaxed and showed us her impressive Doberman lean.”

“I think she is waiting to come out of her shell.   In just the little time I spent with her, she went from really not sure if she wanted me touching her to coming to me while in a crowd.  In a matter of no time this good looking lady will be someone’s shadow!”

“Henna is a really pretty girl who is a little shy at first but will come around and then likes to have her ears rubbed.  I’m confident that once she feels safe and comfortable in her new home, she will be at your side all the time.”

You can see this is an excellent dog who simply is waiting to be at ease in a new setting.  Once she’s comfortable (and it doesn’t seem to take long), she’s ready for anything from playing chase to climbing into your lap, or at least nearly so.

If you think this large and lovely Dober is a match for your family, make an appointment once your application is approved, and come see what you think.

Henna is a plant-based, reddish orange dye used for coloring a variety things.  If you decide to make Henna a part of your family, I'm confident she’ll be coloring your world for many happy years.
