This huge, handsome Doberboy came to us, along with his sister, from a loving home where they had lived since pups.  Unfortunately, as sometimes happens and even though he’s significantly bigger, his sister picks on him mercilessly and endlessly.  For his part, he’s an absolute love bug that loves to give kisses and cuddle - definitely a lover, not a fighter!

The owner had been going to turn them in once before but decided not to at the last minute, the heart tug being too strong.  Unfortunately, both owners have escalating health issues, with the husband being particularly ill, and there’s just no way possible for the wife to care for both him and the dogs and do any of them justice.  So now the heart takes a back seat to the need, and the dogs have come to Elijah’s House where they await new, separate homes.

His former mom says he was in the house at night and had the free run of a spacious, fenced yard during the day, adding, “However, he prefers to chill most of the day.”

She further adds: “He’s a great dog and likes to talk.  He is very affectionate and loves to lay his head on your lap.  He is very sociable and gets along with children.  He would make a great asset to the right family.  We are hoping that the right family will adopt him and allow him to live up to his full potential as Man's best friend and loyal companion.”

He's clean in his house manners, obedient, gentle, and a lovebug.

Volunteer comments:
    “He’s a LOT of love!”

“His soft, fawn fur around his face gives him a distinctive appearance.  He loves to play with toys, and despite his current chunkiness, he is in constant motion in the fields.”

“Bach is a mellow 'old soul'.  He has eyes that at first will give you pause, (he has an intimidating stare), but he’s all love and cuddles.  H’s pretty playful too for a such a big boy.  He’s Carol’s kind of dog, but in all honesty could probably stand to lose 10-15 pounds, which probably won’t happen at DRT, so help this love bug slim down while he warms your heart!”

“Bach is a gentle giant and freely gives kisses as well.  He loves to lean up against you for some extra pats and loving words!”

“Have you ever taken your hands and tried to gently push your dog out of the way?  I have, and I tried it with Bach today.  I was laughingly shocked because - nothing happened!  This big, gentle guy wasn’t budged in the least.  Then I sat on the floor, working on a project, and he did his best to get onto my lap.   But I don’t have enough lap for that much dog!  He really wanted to get close and to be loved on.  He’s a lunk and a hunk, and I adore him.”

"Bach is a big fellow,  but you can’t tell it by what you feel on the end of your leash.  He’s a gentleman."

“I heard Carol describe Bach as a ‘hunk of love’, and after meeting him, I can tell you she’s right.  Her description fits him perfectly.”

Clearly you can see this is one big, lovable, lummox of a Doberboy - one who’s just itching to snuggle up next to you on the sofa and keep you warm through the winter chill.  If you think he may be a match for your family, make an appointment to meet him once your application is approved, and come meet him in person.  Just bring your bigger vehicle if you do!
